Modern Band Camp for Kids

Amp Camp offers two tracks so campers can focus on the part of live music-making that excites them most: either performing on stage or producing the show behind the scenes. Campers select one track for the week.

Modern Band Track

Ages 9-19
Students in the Modern Band Track:

  • Play guitar, bass, drums, keyboards, vocals, and other band instruments

  • Rehearse in modern bands with coaches

  • Learn songs in popular styles (rock, pop, hip-hop, R&B, country, and more)

  • Develop performance skills and confidence

  • Perform as part of the end-of-camp JamFest concert

This track is ideal for campers who want to perform and be part of a band on stage.

Lighting & Sound Track
Ages 12-19
Students in the Production Track:

  • Learn how live sound and stage lighting work

  • Set up microphones, speakers, mixers, and lighting systems

  • Learn basic audio and lighting operation for concerts and events

  • Support bands and performers during rehearsals and performances

  • Help run the technical side of the end-of-camp JamFest concert

This track is ideal for students who are interested in technology, production, and behind-the-scenes work in live music.

No previous experience is required for either track.
All skill levels and abilities are welcome, and students in both tracks work together to create a full live concert experience.

Performance Opportunities

Campers collaborate to build their own set of music, choosing, arranging, and rehearsing songs together as a band. Through this process, they develop not only their musical skills, but also their ability to communicate, make decisions, and work as a team. The experience culminates in a live performance where the focus goes beyond playing notes. Students learn how to connect with an audience and share something meaningful through their music.
